Founded in 1967 by Jerry & JoEtta Koontz, the legacy of Koontz Heating & Air Conditioning is deeply rooted in an unwavering commitment to quality, service, and care. That all started with the technical expertise of Jerry and JoEtta’s business acumen. Brent Sturgell’s assumption of ownership signifies not just a change but a continuation of these core principles, ensuring the tradition of excellence perseveres.
Hands-on leadership, family roots intact
Today, Koontz is led by Brent Sturgell. His hands-on approach is a deliberate continuation of the way the founders ran the business — the same standards, the same care for the work, signed by the owner who walks the job.
Brent's background fits the work. He holds a Bachelor of Science in HVAC Engineering from Ferris State University, is a Certified Gas Engineer with the American Society of Gas Engineers, and carries a Class A unrestricted HVAC license. Thirty-five years in the industry — including time with Daikin, Goodman, Trane, Carrier, First Co., and Orlando-based Addison Products — taught him how systems are designed, how they fail, and what separates a quick repair from one that holds up. Brent is also a military veteran, and Koontz remains the veteran-owned business it has been since the day it was founded.

The clearest signal of who we are is who's still here. Our average employee tenure is more than twelve years, and several team members have been answering Koontz calls for over thirty. Customers see the same faces year after year — the kind of continuity that's hard to fake and worth a great deal when the AC quits in August or a pipe lets go on a Sunday morning.
